Out of nowhere Aidan began talking about moving. He's stated, "this house is not safe" and now the following conversation.
Aidan: "This house is not good for me Mom-mom."
Me: "It's not?"
Aidan: "Now we have to move."
Me: "Umm. Where are we going to move to? Are we going to live in a bigger house or a smaller house?"
Aidan: "A bigger house."
Me: "Where?"
Aidan: "Now you can move to the green one. To Kansas."
(Sure enough, Kansas is green on the US map he has)
Looking back on his declaration of "the road is not safe"....perhaps we should start looking for a new house!

Dinosaurs everywhere!!!
Aidan has declared he wants a dinosaur birthday cake with a "green and brown T-Rex with a volcano". So I got to work planning another dinosaur birthday party. I found this great chocolate mold and then the fossiliced ice cube trays. This is going to be great!

Clapping, waving, rolling a ball?
Today Isabella started clapping her hands and saying "ehhhh" along with it. It's the cute little pre-clapping but it's definitely clapping that's emerging! She also waves bye bye and is rolling a ball. Lots of little ways that my baby is growing every day!

Bike skills
Well, Aidan has officially mastered riding a bike and turning in tight corners. It took a little practice but he now rides around the island and back into the living room. Mark is working on teaching him how to do a Y-turn to turn around, we'll see how that goes. For now he's happy just riding around any obstacles he can find.

8 Months old today!
Isabella is 8 months old on Valentine's Day. We took the usual monthly pictures to show how much she's grown and then Aidan wanted to show baby sister how to crawl. It was quite cute. She's so close. She's starting to move her hands around. Now to coordinate moving legs and hands and she'll hae it.
She is definitely trouble. I set her with some toys and went to go make lunch. Came back to this mess. She had scooted on her bottom over to the diaper caddy, emptied all the diapers, pulled the wipes bag out, opened the wipes bag and was pulling out wipes.

TWO!!!
Just before bed tonight Aidan discovered counting on his fingers. He was very proud to show me that he was "two!" so we took a picture. He is loving using his fingers to show how many he counted.

Cars, cars and more cars
Since Mark hit the deer we are on the lookout for a new car. Part of my heart sank this weekend as I realized the Traverse is not all that we remember. Sadly, if we want to have any more children, the Traverse is not going to hold all that we will need it or want it to hold. So we're off to minivan land. Our choices are the Sienna or the Odyssey. There's something about the Odyssey that makes it look like a hearse to me. Personally, I'd like the outside of a Sienna with the inside of an Odyssey. Why oh why did the Sienna remodel and take away LATCH and tether anchors?
Aidan: "Oh no, my eye."
Me: "What's wrong with your eye?"
Aidan: "It has an eye-flash in it. I need a new eye."

My little helper
Both kids woke up at the same time this morning. I decided to get Aidan first. He wanted to "go talk to baby sister. I want to go see her Mom-mom." So we headed to the bathroom to get his stool and he took it into Isabella's room and set it next to her crib, climbed up and started talking to her. "What are you doing in there? Are you hiding? Yes?" She was babbling at him. Since they were keeping eachother occupied I decided it was a good time to finish putting Isabella's shelf together. Aidan was very interested and decided to join in. He LOVES to help. He is actually quite good at using a screwdriver. Once I got them started, he got to it and helped tighten them each some. When we were done he wanted to "go get more shelves Mom-mom?"
Mark was out with friends tonight and I was trying to make more pears because we ran out. Isabella really likes to hang out in her high chair so she was in there and Aidan was playing. When Isabella would drop a toy, Aidan would run into the kitchen and give it back to her. Eventually she started to get fussy and Aidan decided she needed a "different toy". He piled up her tray and ran away. Isabella wasn't quite sure how to handle the amount of toys on her tray.

Car meets deer
Today has been one wild day. Mark hit a deer this morning and decided to bring it's fur back home on his car! Thankfully he's okay. One broken headlight, one broken hood release cable, a dented fender and a skinned deer. A little investigating and we found we can get to the hood release cable to get the hood open, that's a bonus. And Mark plans to buy a new headlight from a junkyard and replace it. Looks like we'll get by a few more months on his car.
Aidan, Isabella and I headed to the indoor play park where we met Maggie, Luke and Charlie. It took a while for Aidan to get comfortable. We had a few freak outs and had to sit in a chair to recompose but once he warmed up he did well. Lunch was a little tricky because of "strangers" at the table. He did well considering. Isabella was a rockstar. I think she likes social settings. It's more interesting than the four walls of our house every day. We do need to get out more often. That'll be my goal for the rest of the winter, since we tend to get out a lot in the spring and summer.
I headed to the dental surgeon and got to schedule my implant surgery. O_o There was a spot open on Friday but I wanted a little more time for a last hoorah with my ladies next Wed so I'll be getting my implant next Thursday. The periodontist was kind in stating that he wouldn't leave me "looking like a snaggletooth"....thanks doc! Now to decide if I want to be put under for the procedure...
Aidan quote of the day: "Dada I did talk to Maggie. I talk to Maggie and get my shoe tied."
Aidan was discussing his day and apparently Maggie helping tie his shoe was a big part as he had to stop playing basketball to let Mark know all about how his shoe came untied and Maggie helped him out. Thanks, Maggie!

Waiting for Spring
Apparently Spring can't come soon enough. Aidan was all about riding his bike today. He was "fixing the engine" with a toothbrush and riding it around today. Of course if it snowed tomorrow he'd still be incredibly happy to build a snowman but we are so ready to get outside and play, play, play!

Bath Time
Isabella has officially outgrown her baby bathtub and took her first bath in the duck bath today. She liked it so much she was very mad at Mark when he took her out. Looks like we have a new activity for when she isn't taking her nap! Daisy also got to take a bath.
Aidan quote of the day: "Dada, I'm a little too busy to take a nap." "Mom-mom, I can't take a nap. So maybe tomorrow I can take a nap."

Kiwi
A trip to Whole Foods presented some fresh Kiwi so we thought we'd give it a try. Aidan wasn't too fond of it but I think Isabella will probably enjoy it. She pretty much likes everything!

Siblings
Having two kids is very rewarding but the best is yet to come. The kids are starting to interact and it's just so fun. Our days are filled with moments of them playing with eachother, in a way only a 7 month old and 2.5 year old can. He talks to her, gives her toys, shows her how toys work, and likes to imitate her. She smiles and laughs at him. Today she was working on crawling and he said, "baby sister is making a bridge!" He decided to make a bridge with her and wanted his picture taken.
Aidan quote of the day: "Now tomorrow baby sister can play with my air aft carrier"
Aidan loves his aircraft carrier and was hoping baby sister could play with it. I told him she wasn't big enough and he thinks by tomorrow she'll be big enough. I think he'll be waiting for a lot more "tomorrows".

First tooth!!!
Isabella got her first tooth yesterday - caught a glimpse of it on camera today! It's barely visible but we can definitely feel it!
